Our Process
- Consultation: Initiated with the APPA Advisors Program Manager for a preliminary discussion.
- Scope Development: A structured interview defines the scope of work and service needs.
- Team Selection: A Senior Advisor or team is proposed based on the institution’s profile—subject to client approval.
- Proposal & Agreement: A clear outline of the process, timeline, deliverables, and cost is provided for final sign-off.
Who We Are
APPA Advisors includes a deep pool of Senior Advisors and Advisors:
- Senior Advisors are retired or active executives with extensive experience at the director, AVP, or VP level, often with prior service in APPA’s Facilities Management Evaluation Program (FMEP).
- Advisors are accomplished professionals actively working in higher education, recognized for their subject matter expertise and professional contributions.
Each engagement team is led by a Senior Advisor Team Leader, who oversees communication, planning, the review process, and delivery of results.

Facilities Management Evaluation Program
APPA’s Facilities Management Evaluation Program (FMEP), established in 1989, provides institutions with a standardized, detailed organizational evaluation conducted by a team of institutional peers and steeped in a timeless, comprehensive set of Baldrige-based based performance criteria. Institutions receive a personalized written report consisting of feedback and recommended actions designed to help transform their entire facilities organizations to better support the educational mission and vision. This type of evaluation further opens the door to a future submission for APPA’s Award for Excellence in Facilities Management (AFE).
